HQ Equita to sell WindStar Medical to subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Group
Frankfurt, August 16, 2016. HQ Equita, the mid-cap buyout firm of HQ Capital, today announced that it has agreed to sell its majority ownership position in WindStar Medical Group (WindStar) to 7Life, a subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Group. WindStar’s founders Wilfried Eichhorn and Dr. Thomas Kleine will continue to hold stakes in the company, which is based in Wehrheim, Germany. The transaction is subject to approval by antitrust authorities.
WindStar specializes in developing and marketing innovative over-the-counter healthcare products. Its portfolio comprises of products for pharmaceutical travel kits and weight reduction, among others. Its products are available primarily in non-pharmacy outlets under brand names such as SOS, GREENDOC, Well & Slim and Vitalia.
HQ Equita recently has supported the management team of WindStar with a focus on strengthening the company’s brands and supporting its international expansion. During HQ Equita’s ownership period, WindStar’s sales and earnings have increased significantly.
